German Woman Fakes Kidnapping to Play Truant from Work
First prize for best excuse for not turning up at work must surely go to a young woman in Germany. Did she call in sick? No. Did she pretend that she lost her wallet? No. The 21-year old decided that if she was already going to lie, she might as well gain some attention as well and become a local celebrity and so ? she faked her own kidnapping.
Because she did not feel like going to work in her job at a fast food restaurant in Straubing, a town in Bavarian region of Germany, the woman decided to send a text message to her parents and tell them that she had been kidnapped. Her family naturally panicked and called in the local authorities who were quick to respond. Recent stories in the news of a young German girl who escaped from her kidnapper, certainly had the police worrying that they were facing a similar situation. A massive search was arranged across the entire region for the woman on December 23rd.
This story has a happy ending? at least for the girl? family. The following day, she was found unharmed and she was ready to tell the police that the ?kidnapper? had freed her after holding her for the night. However, the police were quick to realize that the story was simply not believable enough and she was taken in for questioning. The irony of the story? The reason that the girl did not want to go into work was that she owed a colleague a mere 25 Euros, yet she is now up against a stiff fine of 1000 Euros because of her escapade.
