Lebanese Hold Anti-Hizballah Rally
A day after a gigantic rally in Lebanon in support of Hassan Nasrallah and his Hizballah terrorist group, a counter-rally was held north of the Lebanese capital of Beirut protesting the group`s presence and questioning whether the "divine victory" proclaimed by Nasrallah over Israel could in fact be called as such. One of the rally`s organizers was a former commander of a Christian militia which fought in the Lebanese Civil War and on the side of Israel during the Jewish state`s invasion to drive out Palestinian terrorists.
"I don`t feel victory because the majority of the Lebanese people do not feel victory. Rather, they feel that a major catastrophe had befallen them and made their present and future uncertain," said Samir Geagea of the Lebanese Forces group. The Lebanese Forces were one of the many Lebanese militias which were disbanded following United Nations resolutions on the dissolution of all militias in the country. Hizballah is the only group which has yet to disarm.
Geagea also frankly stated his opinion that Hizballah`s having created a "state within a state" in southern Lebanon was immoral and acted to prevent national unity instead of bring the country together. He also protested the arming of the Shiite group, which has incredible support in Lebanon`s south. "When we find a solution to the issue of Hizballah`s weapons, then it will be possible to establish the state as it should be," Geagea said.
