Several Canada College Shooting Students Remain Critical
Four days after a mass shooting at Montreal, Canada`s metropolitan Dawson College, two victims remained in critical condition, with five others originally in serious condition reported to be stable and recovering. The rest of the less seriously wounded, nineteen in number, have all been released from Montreal-area hospitals. On the day of the shooting, one female student was pronounced dead at Dawson College, as was the shooter, 25-year-old Kimveer Gill.
Dawson College, which is technically a Junior College with around 10,000 registered students, is located in downtown Montreal at a former convent. Dawson College is the largest English-language junior college in French--dominated Quebec. The shooter was a self-described Columbine emulator wannabe, and supposedly killed himself after police arrived at the scene and started shooting at him. Classes at the school are scheduled to begin again today, September 19.
Montreal General Hospital announced that one patient, whom it had earlier listed as "in a coma", had improved overnight, but was still in very critical. Another patient was reportedly in critical but stable condition. Five other gunshot victims are listed as stable and recovering. The hospital did not release the names of the injured.
