U.S. to Reach 300 Million in Population Next Week

While it will be difficult to determine exactly who will be the individual that puts the United States of America over the 300 million persons population mark, it is expected that within the next week America will pass this milestone and become, behind China and India, the third most populous country on the planet. Compared to other continents and countries, such as Europe and Japan, the population of the United States is younger and still growing. While the European Union has expanded in size, in terms of a youthful population the majority of youths are likely non-native immigrants.

It took nearly 140 years, from 1776 as the founding date of the U.S. of A, for the nation to pass the 100 million person mark. This happened in 1915. It was another 52 years until the United States passed the 200 million population point. Now, with 300 million on the horizon, the evidence is in that even while millions around the world object to U.S. policies or even, in the case of Islamist terrorists, U.S. existence, many more millions admire America and want to take advantage of its size, power and economy.

And now, 39 years after the U.S. jumped over the 200 million mark, there are worries about the availability of space in America and, along with immigration issues, worries about the future of Social Security. Even so, when so many other countries are aging and shrinking, that the U.S.A. is growing and still relatively young demographically is a reason to hope, not fret.
