US Police Kill Bridegroom in Club Shooting
There are many question marks surrounding the recent shooting by police officers in an incident in Queens, New York. Three men ? between the ages of 23 and 31 ? were shot at outside a club and the shooting left one man dead. The deceased was 23-year-old Sean Bell who was celebrating at his bachelor party with his friends and was due to get married the following day. A police spokesman said that as many as eight officers were involved in the incident, however no other details were released.
Just after 4 am. witnesses reported hearing gun shot outside a popular Queens club, Kalua. Nobody can confirm what brought the police to shoot at Bell and his friends who were celebrating at the bachelor party. The Mary Immaculate Hospital reported that one man was stable, while another was in critical condition. Family members and friends of the groom were extremely shocked by the incident and expressed disbelief and anger. A clergyman, who spoke about the shooting, said that there were no reports of the three being armed.
This recent shooting again raises the question of whether the US police force is ?trigger-happy?. In the great gun control debate, many feel that if the police force showed more restraint, the general population would follow suit and the cycle of violence would end.
