Italian "Security Expert" Poisoned in London

Mario Scaramella, who is most notably known for his work at the Mitrokhin Commission set up by Italian Parliament to study Soviet espionage in Italy during the Cold war, has been allegedly poisoned in a sushi bar in London recently. At the time he was with Alexander Litvinenko, who is said to be connected with both Russian and Italian intelligence agencies. Litvinenko is currently in hiding for fear of his life. Later on Scaramella said that the attempt on his life was most likely due to his involvement in the Mitrokhin Commission.

This hasn`t been Scaramella first assassination attempt. Two years ago he was shot at the base of Mount Vesuvius while overlooking a demolition of an illegally constructed villa by the Italian police. The villa, located near Herculaneum, was owned by a Mafia boss.

The last attempt at Scaramella life hasn`t come as a surprise. His friend`s report that he was concerned that Russian and Chechen intelligence agencies might attempt to murder him for his work at the commission saying: ?Mario was very good at finding and gathering information in Russia and has very good connections there. The last time I spoke to him he felt very worried and threatened. He was very concerned because he feels he has been set up." The commission chaired by centre-right senator, Paolo Guzzanti has exposed many KGB spies and has put his life at jeopardy. The senator said that the incident "was clearly a murder attempt.? Scaramella was a regular visitor at the FSB headquarters in Moscow and has worked closely with Viktor Kolmogorov, deputy head of the organization.
