Italian Parliament Deals with Transvestite Matters

Italian politicians have been criticized lately. Some opinions state that the Italian Parliament reminds more and more of the circus. There is some truth to the matter and the subject has been treated to its share of sarcastic comments and political cartoons. The latest buzz in the Italian Parliament has been connected with the transvestite Vladimir Luxuria. Luxuria is a representative of the Communist Party in the center-left coalition.

So what actually happened that was the cause of so much talk both in the Italian Parliament and in the Press? Elisabetta Gardini, who is a spokeswoman for the Silvio Berlusconi`s Forza Italia party has found transvestite Vladimir Luxuria in the woman`s bathroom in the lower house of parliament. Luxuria was born a man, however, she wears woman`s clothes, even though a sex-change operation has taken place. On her part, Gardini claims that upon witnessing Luxuria in the woman`s restroom, she was deeply traumatized and also claims that this is a type of sexual violence.

So, who could have thought that an issue as trivial as this one would be brought to discussion to the Parliament? The incident, in addition to attracting numerous sarcastic comments from the Press, has also attracted various governmental officials that didn`t hesitate to comment on the subject "so crucial" to the future of Italy. Numerous governmental officials have expressed support to Luxuria, and claimed that Gardini`s reaction was homophobic. Well, looks the parliament in Italy doesn`t have any more important issues to discuss.
