Russian Officials Try to Stop the Sales of Forged Alcohol

Typically, alcohol has always been a major issue in Russia. Russians seem to be famous for their drinking, and numerous jokes have been created on the subject. However, this time Russian officials are not in the mood to joke. It has become a scary reality that hundreds of people die from counterfeit alcohol and the solution to this problem has not been discovered till this day. None the less, could be that this time Russian government is serious about the issue.

Several senior government officials are calling for immediate action against forged alcohol that has been the reason to numerous deaths. The officials of the Voronezh Region have announced recently that almost 600 tons of hazardous liquids were seized, and that those liquids were intended to be sold as vodka. It`s important to understand the horror of the situation: the liquid is not low-quality vodka, its de-rusting chemicals that contain an incredibly high percent of ethyl spirit.

Those hazardous liquids are the cause of many problems. For instance in the last month more than 100 hundred people have died as a result of toxic hepatitis, which was caused by bad alcohol. Even though, the public is aware of the dangers of purchasing suspicious liquids that are positioned as licensed vodka, the problem still remains. It is due to the fact that the industry still lacks control from the side of the officials and that hazardous liquids are still freely sold in the Russian market.
