EU Declares Tamil Tigers as Terrorists

The EU has joined the US, Canada and several other Western countires in declaring the Tamil Tigers organization as terrorists. This move will help issolate the Tamil Tigers who have been behind terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka.

According to a report that was aired recently on the BBC, all monetary assets of the Tamil Tiger within the EU`s 25 states will be frozen and they will not be able access these funds. This move will certainly hinder some of the terrorist group`s activities.

A patchy ceasefire that was signed with the government of Sri Lanka was recently violated by the Tamil Tigers. This violation of the ceasefire has added to regional tension and may have prompted the blacklisting of the group by the EU.
