UK Boycott of Israeli Academia Unjustified
UK academics have decided to boycott Israeli institutions of higher learning in what is being called an unjustified political move. There was a large outcry, and 600 well known and respected academics have signed a petition calling for the end of the boycott because of its obvious political agenda.
The UK has a history of anti-Israel boycotts among it`s academics who have tried and faield on several occasions in the past to impose a boycott on Israel. Previously, the decision has been reversed.
Ronnie Fraser is the director of the Academic Friends of Israel. he commented on the boycott: "If the sponsors of this boycotting campaign succeeded in something, it is only to undermine further progress, collaboration and peace in the Middle East and to marginalize the standing of NATFHE."
