Bangladesh Environment Minister Called on by U.S.
Patricia A. Boutenis, U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh, called on Tariqul Islam, Forest and Environment Minister of Bangladesh, at his office in Dhaka on Sunday. Different issues relating to eco-tourism, forestation, and other environmental subjects were discussed during the meeting, according to official resources.
The USAID, Bangladesh is assisting with money and technical support in a project in five different areas of Bangladesh. Under this project, local people were encouraged to look after the forest through providing job facilities for their livelihood. Apart from this, the United States is also helping to develop and expand tropical forest across the country.
The Minister mentioned several programs the government would implement regarding forestation, environment and eco-tourism. The US Ambassador expressed her deep appreciation for the government`s programs in this important sector.
