13 Dead in Suicide Restaurant Bombing

It seems the war in Iraq is becoming more bloody with each passing day. The news is filled with stories of car and suicide bombings taking place in various cities in war-torn Iraq. The most recent incident involved a suicide bomber who blew himself up at a restaurant in downtown Baghdad. This restaurant is frequented by the police. 13 people were killed and 17 more were injured.

The suicide bombing was part of a spree of attacks on Sunday that left 18 Iraqis dead and injured dozens more. The attack came as Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki pledged to soon fill vacancies in his two key security ministries.

According to Police Col. Abbas Mohammed, three of the dead were police officers. The explosion erupted at about 1:20pm when the restaurant would have been packed for lunch.
