Al Gore Says No Oval Office Run in 2008
Former Vice President Al Gore says he is not planning to run for president in 2008 but has not ruled out a future in politics. Gore told an audience at Middle Tennessee State University, "I`m enjoying what I`m doing." Gore was giving a lecture on global warming.
Since his electoral college loss to George W. Bush in 2000 in one of the closest presidential elections in U.S. history, Gore has occasionally delivered speeches on global warming and other issues, often criticizing Bush administration policies. He also co-founded a television network, Current TV, which mostly features documentaries by young filmmakers.
He told the audience, "I`m not planning to be a candidate again. I haven`t reached a stage in my life where I`m willing to say I will never consider something like this. But I`m not saying that to be coy, I`m just saying that to be honest - that I haven`t reached that point." Gore turns 58 next week.
