Iraqis Show Hope for Future
Despite three years of violence and bloodshed since the outbreak of the current war in Iraq, many Iraqis are hopeful about the future. Most attacks directed towards the civilian population have risen in the past several months. Many Iraqis are hopeful that the recently elected Baghdad government will improve the situation in the near future.
Sectarian violence has spiraled out of control with daily attacks on the Iraq population from various factions. The main division between the Suni Moslems and the Shiite Moslems is at the root of the sectarian violence which has left thousands dead. Insurgency has also been at the root of the violence as terrorist groups target civilians in order to try to fan the flames of instability.
A report which measured progress in Iraq through May stated: "The formation of the new, permanent Iraqi government that addresses key sectarian and political concerns could help reverse the attack trend."
