Cement Soccer Ball Pranksters Caught in Germany
Just when you thought you?d heard it all, there are pranksters out there doing some pretty crazy things to people. For example, very few are the people in the industrialized world who haven?t heard about the World Cup, which finishes today, July 9, in a match between France and Italy. Some soccer-minded pranksters in the German capital of Berlin thought it?d be pretty funny to place cement filled soccer balls around the city and invite unwitting innocents to kick them ? likely resulting in physical injury.
But they were finally caught this week, as police accused a 26-year-old and a 29.year-old in connection with placing the cement soccer balls, and found a workshop where the two manufactured their injurious sports equipment. Berlin police have said that the two suspects will be charged with causing serious physical injury, dangerous obstruction of traffic and causing injury through negligence. Even for people who don?t really care about the World Cup, hearing the story about these pranksters is enough to spark laughter ? as well as concern.
Says one news reader, ?When I heard about the story I just about lost it. I mean, the genius of it! You paint a cement ball, place it in a public place with a sign on it, and watch what happens? I mean, I wouldn?t want to be the person who tries to kick that thing, though. Think about the medical bills! Those two guys will get what they deserve, but if they?d only done something a little less dangerous ? well, I?d give them a pat on the back for their ingenuity.?
