Terror Sponsor Accuses U.K. of Terrorism

Iran, the world`s most well-known state-sponsor of international terrorism has accused the United Kingdom of responsibility for blasts this week in a predominantly Arab province of the Islamic Republic. The blasts took place on a day when Iran`s extremist president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was to visit the province. The Ahwaz region is known for its oppressed Arab minority and riots which have affected the area over the past year.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki claims that there are photographs with U.K. officials and the bombers. "It is clear for our officials and intelligence centers that the United Kingdom co-operated and had a hand in these bombings either in London or Basra," said Mottaki in a press conference earlier this week.

The bombing occurred in a private bank and led to the death of eight people. In London, a U.K. Foreign Office spokesman denied the accusation, saying that unlike Iran when Britain condemns terrorism - as it does on a regular basis - the U.K. actually means it. "Any linkage between Her Majesty`s Government and these terrorist attacks is completely without foundation," the spokesman said.
