Winning Powerball Numbers Sold in Nebraska
Lottery officials say a "Powerball" ticket for what was the largest jackpot in U.S. history was sold in Nebraska with the winning numbers for $365 million. However, the winner as of the publishing of this article had yet come forward to claim their winnings. The jackpot topped the previous U.S. lottery record, which was $363 million for the "Big Game" won by two ticket holders in Illinois and Michigan in 2000.
The web site for Powerball said that only one winning ticket was sold for Saturday`s jackpot. If more than one ticket was sold, the jackpot would of course have been split. Powerball`s previous record jackpot of $340 million was won by an family in Oregon last October.
A spokesman for the Nebraska Lottery, Brian Rockey, says that so far no one has come forward to claim the jackpot. He noted that the winning ticket was sold in Lincoln, and lottery officials were go to the site of the sale last Sunday to verify it. Powerball is played in 28 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
