Iranian Leader Continues Threats against Israel
The Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has continued his verbal attack on the State of Israel, this time stating that the ?Zionist regime will soon be wiped out?. In the past, Ahmadinejad has called for Israel to be wiped off the map and has also denied the existence of the Holocaust where 6 million Jews perished. The president recently hosted a Holocaust conference whose aim was to question the ?truth? about world events and show that the number of people killed was ?fabricated? and ?exaggerated?.
Although Iran is one of the worst violators of free speech and human rights, the president, ironically, called for conference members to gather in Teheran because, ?here you can express your views and exchange opinions in a friendly, brotherly and free atmosphere." European and Americans who continue to deny the Holocaust, as well as members of the Ku Klux Klan and other racist organizations attended the conference.
Enjoying the applause and adulation offered to him by conference attendees, Ahmandinejad directed harsh words and prophesies to Israel. ?Thanks to people`s wishes and God`s will, the trend for the existence of the Zionist regime is downwards, and this is what God has promised and what all nations want." While other countries in the world have ?condemned? this type of talk, many feel that the Iranian president is not being dealt with harshly enough. The fact that Iran is actively seeking nuclear power is also a major cause of concern and many experts feel that everything should be done to stop this country before it causes global havoc.
