Karr`s Family Seeks Route to Defend Confessed Killer

Relatives of John Mark Karr, the man accused of killing JonBenet Ramsey, are trying to raise money for his defense by offering book and film rights to the family`s story. Karr is in a Los Angeles jail waiting for his extradition to Colorado, where JonBenet was killed in December 1996. He told reporters in Thailand that he was present during JonBenet`s death, but he claims it was an accident.

Larry Garrison, a producer hired by the Karr family to represent them in any deals, tells reporters, "They`re not looking for money for themselves. They`re looking to support John`s boys` college education and to make sure all legal fees are covered."

Karr`s family says he was in Georgia during the murder, which took place in Boulder. Attorney Gary Harris, who previously represented Karr`s father and brother, said the family found a photo from Christmas 1996 showing three sons at dinner in Atlanta. However, Karr pleaded guilty prior to his extradition from Thailand to the United States.
