United Flight to DC Diverted to Boston

A flight bound from London, UK to Washington, DC was diverted to Boston`s Logan airport on Wednesday, after a passenger on-board was found to be possessing Vaseline, matches and screw diver. A note referencing terror group al-Qaida was also spotted, according to a Logan airport spokesman. The Logan airport spokesman, Phil Orlandella, confirmed that United flight 923 had a safe landing in Boston. United Airlines spokesman Brandon Borrman told reporters the flight, with 182 passengers and 12 crew members, landed safely without further incident.

Borrman said a female passenger was spotted engaging in some "suspicious" activity, but he could not immediately say what that activity was. State Police and federal agents took control of the plane after it landed, and passengers were spotted by media exiting the plane and being loaded onto a bus. Airport spokesman Orlandella also said their carry-on luggage was being checked.

Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Amy von Walter said that the flight from London`s Heathrow Airport was scheduled to land at Dulles International Airport outside Washington. Von Walter also said that warplanes were scrambled, and trailed the flight for some time. The incident follows last week`s incident where British authorities said they foiled a terror plot to blow up trans-Atlantic flights from London to the United States.
