Another Flight to Ireland Diverted
The Irish Aviation Authority has seen yet another plane diversion in less than one week, and this time it was an Aer Lingus flight from Chicago to Dublin which was forced to make an emergency landing in northern Canada on April 16.
The flight landed at a Canadian air base at Goose Bay in Labrador after a crew member alerted the captain to the smell of burning plastic three-and-a-half hours into the flight. Over 300 passengers and 12 crew were on board the flight at the time.
Reports indicated a technical problem was identified and engineers and spare parts were sent from Ireland. Last week, a flight from London to the western city of Galway was diverted to Glasgow Airport in Scotland after a crew member discovered a note with a bomb threat which was later identified as a hoax.
