Human Smuggling Ring Broken in Canada
Canadian and US officials have broken up a human smuggling ring in Canada, announcing that have have arrested 12 suspects. Two other suspects are still being sought after with possible connections to the operation, based in British Columbia?s Lower Mainland.
According to reports, ring organizers allegedly tried to smuggle 60 people from India and Pakistan into the United States through Canada, and were charging their human cargo about $35,000 each. Authorities have identified identify Kaval Multani, a resident of Surrey, B.C., as the ring leader in his band of smugglers
Fifty-eight of the migrants caught while in transport are behind bars in Washington State and the other two in Canada. It?s unclear now as what will happen to them in he near future. Multani, the alleged ring-leader, is being held in Vancouver.
