Illegal Chinese Immigrants Detained in Seattle

U.S. Customs officials in the State of Washington have reportedly detained twenty one people who were apparently transported in a 40-foot cargo container from China in an attempt to illegally enter the United States of America. The illegal immigrants apparently let themselves out of the container and climbed seven feet to the ground.

Michael Milne, a spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said "The seventeen men and four women all appeared to be in good health after spending two weeks in the container." Security guards at the Port of Seattle saw the group at about 1 a.m.

Milne added, there was "not any terrorist activity...just an alien smuggling operation." He adds the group will likely be deported after they are interviewed. This may be the first discovery of attempted human smuggling on a cargo container since a rash of them in 2000 and 2001.
