Iran Conducts Second Missile Test
In a show of its military strength, Iran conducts its second test of a new missile on Sunday. Tehran asserted that no submarine or warship can escape the high-speed torpedo, called the "Hoot" or "whale" in Farsi. The tests came during heightened tensions with the U.S. over the resumption of Iran`s nuclear program.
The country`s elite Revolutionary Guards regularly conduct war games in the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea. Iran says it successfully tested the Fajr-3 missile during the first day of war games on Friday. The weapon can hit several targets simultaneously while avoiding detection by radar.
Ali Fadavi, general and deputy head of the Revolutionary Guards` navy, says on state television that the torpedo "has a very powerful warhead designed to hit big submarines. Even if enemy warship sensors identify the missile, no warship can escape from this missile because of its high speed."
