India terror bombings kill 61
Massive explosions rocked the Indian capital of New Dehli on Sunday as marketplaces prepared for that country`s festival of lights. As of press time, 61 people had died in the most recent terrorist attacks to hit India. The series of three explosions had yet to have any claims of responsibility, and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said ",I am confident that the people of India have the will, capacity and resolution to win the war against terrorism.",
While in the past terrorist attacks against India have been related to the conflict with Pakistan over the region of Kashmir, Pakistan strongly condemned today`s attack with a statement from the Foreign Ministry in Islamabad which stated, ",The people and the government of Pakistan are shocked at this barbaric act and we express deep sympathy with the families of the victims.",
For it`s part, the United States condemned the attacks in the strongest terms, with Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice offering her condolences and saying, ",The United States condemns the multiple terror attacks in New Delhi, India. These acts are made more heinous in that they deliberately targeted innocent civilians preparing for holiday celebrations. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.",
