Four detained in investigations

Federal officials announced Wednesday afternoon that they are deporting four men from Egypt and Jordan who were detained on immigration charges as part of an investigation into a potential terrorism threat in a Baltimore highway tunnel.

",The four men already had broken the law by failing to show up for deportation proceedings before they were detained on Tuesday and three of the men are from Egypt, the other is from Jordan,", says Mark Bastan, acting special agent in charge at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Baltimore.

The men are to be held at a detention center in Wicomico County on Maryland`s Eastern Shore where the men will wait before deportation. ",The process could take up to about a month,", Bastan says. Recent terror threats along the eastern seaboard of the U.S., from New York to Baltimore, have put the country on a high state of alert. Many threats stemmed from intelligence gathered from insurgents captured during fighting in Iraq.
