Karl Rove Agrees To Testify

Federal prosecutors have accepted an offer from Bush presidential adviser Karl Rove to give "11th hour testimony" in the case of the CIA officers leaked identity. Prosecutors warn they cannot guarantee Rove won`t be indicted. Unnamed sources say Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has not made any decision yet on whether to file criminal charges against Rove or others involved.

Before accepting the offer, Fitzgerald sent correspondence to Rove`s legal team, as required by rules stated in the U.S. attorney`s manual, clearly stating there is no guarantee he won`t be indicted at a later point.

For nearly two years, Fitzgerald has been investigating whether someone in the Bush administration leaked the identity of Valerie Plame as a CIA officer for political reasons. Rove would first have to receive what is known as a target letter if he is about to be indicted.
