Tour Boat Company to Face Small Fine

According to New York law enforcement, the owner of a boat that capsized on Lake George, killing 20 elderly tourists, may only be subject to a $25 fine for the deadly incident.

Police say that the boat capsized because it "failed to have enough crew," as only the captain was aboard the vessel at the time of the accident. The Shoreline Cruises foliage tour in Lake George, New York, took aboard 47 passengers, and was mandated by law to have both the captain and an additional crew member.

The state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation suspended the operating certificates for all five of the company`s tour boats after learning that captain Richard Paris was the only crew member aboard.
