Algiers Residents Can Go Home from New Orleans
Residents of Algiers have recently received permission to return to their homes from the New Orleans mayor`s office. These residents escaped the disastrous flooding and are now returning to their neighborhood, which now has working power, water and sewer services.
Residents of one New Orleans neighborhood are told Monday they can return home again, and help rebuild the city. Business owners in the Central Business District, the French Quarter and the Uptown section will also be allowed in to inspect property and clean up.
The mayor`s office says other areas of the city still remain under mandatory evacuation. Mayor Ray Nagin says, `We want people to return and help us rebuild the city. However, we want everyone to assess the risks and make an informed decision about re-entry plans.`
