Organs of slain Palestinian to go to Israel
It isn`t often that the family members of those killed in the midst of fighting between Israelis and Palestinians are willing to go the extra mile for peace, even when such gestures are often what can help heal the divisions which have grown between the two societies since the start of continuous low-grade warfare over five years ago.
A 12 year old boy, Ahmad Khateep, was killed in the West Bank city of Jenin after a firefight broke out following an incident where Palestinian terrorists opened fire on Israeli troops in the refugee camp. Israeli troops thought they saw a Palestinian carrying a weapon, so they opened fire wounding the boy in the head and chest. It was discovered that the boy had been carrying a toy weapon at the time he was shot. He was transferred to a hospital, where he later died.
"We want to send a message of peace to Israeli society, to the Defense Ministry and the Israeli parliament," the boy`s father, Ismail Khateep, said while being interviewed on Israeli television. Israeli forces "killed my son who was healthy, and we want to give his organs to those who need them."
