Bush advisor Rove under fire

It is alleged that Karl Rove spoke to a journalist about the agent days before her identity was revealed in the press. Rove is considered by many to be a political dynamo, responsible for pushing the president`s agenda and helping the Republicans gain a majority in Congress. However, revealing the names of CIA agents is a federal crime and Mr. Rove could be in big trouble if the allegations are true.

The President of the United States, George W. Bush, has said he will withhold judgment about Mr. Rove`s involvement in that CIA leak until a federal investigation is over. A trusted Bush political strategist, Mr Rove has denied being behind the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame`s identity in the media two years ago.

Up to this point the President was keeping mum about the affair, and his statement shows that he is going with the same strategy even by making his opinion not known:

"I will not prejudge the investigation based on media reports. We`re in the midst of an ongoing investigation, and I will be more than happy to comment further once the investigation is completed," Bush said.
