Earthquake Hits Africa

Another earthquake has rocked the planet. This time the natural disaster hit Africa`s poor and suffering Congo area. With all of nature`s tragedies plaguing the earth, many wonder what the future holds for the physical side of the earth.

The United States Geological Survey says a 6.8 earthquake has struck the eastern Congo Monday. The quake has crumbled homes on top of children with numbers of causalities and injuries unknown as yet. Dr. Jean-Donne Owali told The Associated Press by telephone from lakeside Kalemie, Congo, 35 miles from the epicenter that children are being brought to his clinic bleeding from wounds.

The region is already suffering due to wars, economic collapse and thousands of refugee camps where the poor struggle for survival. The United States Geological Survey located the epicenter about six miles below the surface of Lake Tanganyika, between Congo and Tanzania.
