Britain`s State Prayers Will Not Include Camilla

Queen Elizabeth II has decided to exclude the name of her new daughter-in-law from the state prayers. The Duchess of Cornwall will not be named in the royal family`s prayers in Anglican churches. With no specific reason given, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson stated that the decision was not a snub to the former Camilla Parker Bowles, who married Prince Charles in April.

Before the couple`s wedding, it had been widely forecast that Camilla?s name would be included in the prayers. The decision to exclude her will be interpreted by some as a sign that she has still not been accepted unconditionally into royal circles. In contrast, Charles` first wife, Princess Diana, was mentioned by name in the prayers from the time of her marriage to Charles in 1981 until their divorce in 1996.

The state prayers are said on Sundays at Church of England services up and down the country. The prayers ask for blessings for the queen, her husband Prince Philip, and Charles. They also ask God to bless `all the royal family.`
