Human Remains Found in Ohio
Last Friday, in Ohio, officials stated they found the human remains of two bodies. They believe these two bodies were possibly those of two New Hampshire children who have been missing and presumed dead since 2003. Sarah Gehring, 14, and her brother, Philip, 11, were last seen in New Hampshire, at a Fourth of July celebration in 2003. Manuel Gehring, their father, later admitted to shooting them because of a bitter custody fight.
Gehring said he took his two children from the city`s 2003 fireworks show, drove off and later killed them. He said he buried their bodies somewhere in the Midwest, but searches were unsuccessful. When Gehring killed himself in jail in February, the criminal case died with him, leaving the state with no finding of guilt and many still-unanswered questions. He provided descriptions of where he said he buried the children but said he could not remember the exact location.
Police and FBI officials in Hudson said that a woman was searching an area about 1.5 miles off Interstate 80 with her dog on Thursday when the dog found the shallow graves. New Hampshire Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeffery Strelzin said that the woman was a private citizen searching for the children. An initial examination of the remains will be performed Friday night, and a more thorough examination will be undertaken over the weekend. Official identifications have not yet been made.
