A Fresh View of MS Vista
The world has waited five years for Microsoft to come out with a new version of its operating system, Windows. But with Microsoft and the love-hate relationship it has been carrying with the world of computers for many years, the question remains ?Has the world really waited for the new version?? The Windows XP follower, called Vista, arrives in stores these days.
Early surveys of the new operating system are, as expected, ambivalent about the new product. For starters, it cost $159 for the upgrade version from a previous Microsoft OS. Additionally, it requires a large section of the computer?s hard-drive, 15 gigabytes in total, along with a full gigabyte of memory. Its graphics have seen a major upgrade, but now require an upgraded computer to run them with an advanced graphics card. For these aspects, Microsoft offers a free trial package online to examine if the computer one wants to install Vista on is compatible with the requirements.
In competing with Google?s search engine leadership of the industry, Vista incorporates a search form at the top of every window. The interface in general is much more interactive and online, leaving one with the decision whether to stay with Windows, switch to the new version or find similar aspects as provided by other providers, such as Microsoft?s greatest rival Google, free online. The business success of the new version is not doubted, as Microsoft offers the most widely used operating systems in the world. But five years since their last dive into the OS competition, question marks certainly exist.
