Meta Tags are Not Quite Yesterday?s Tags

With the rise of the World Wide Web, meta tags have filled a growingly important role. But as search engines then progressed, until their super sophisticated and secretive algorithms, meta tags have steadily lost their importance. Meta tags have, in the early stages, drawn visits and indexing by search engine spiders while remaining invisible to the Website visitors. The HTML codes, rich with keywords, have promoted the sites and assisted the search engines. But are they any longer of any value?

With properly written and scripted Title, Description and the Keywords, as well as other meta tags of lesser degrees of importance, the spiders could recognize what the Website was about and how relevant it was to the search a user has entered. They are not harmful, and for some search engines who still use them it is worthwhile to keep them. But Webmasters and Website owners are asking themselves if it is worth the time and effort.

This has led to the development of automatic services that create meta tags ? title, description and keywords ? for you. Thus the once important search engine optimization tool is not altogether neglected and no special effort is being put into it. This way a site can create meta tags for all of its pages, at least for a start, before reviewing them and updating them as the site is already online. Experts suggest not neglecting the once important aspect and the Internet is accordingly offering many options for doing just that at low or no effort.
