Wii Not Only About Games
Nintendo is about to release a Wii News Channel to go along with its greatly successful game console these days. Now players will be able to keep updated with the news as they play their favorite games. Mostly on the news channel they will receive top news stories and still photographs from The Associated Press news agency. The AP is offered in various languages, mostly major European languages, and Wii players will be able to find the news in a language they understand anywhere around the world.
Using the wireless remote of the Wii console, the players cum news customers will be able to navigate the globe and find the news from any region around the world. ?So if you really want to focus on regional news or national news versus international, you just blow up the map of the US,? said Perrin Kaplan, Marketing VP at Nintendo`s US headquarters.
The contract between The AP and Nintendo is for two years. The news agency will soon step into the multimedia world and expand their news features into the technology information age. In any case, the partnership with Nintendo will help them reach new markets and new audiences. The Wii is a tremendous platform for content suppliers such as The AP, giving it access to as many as 1.1 million players who have purchased the unit since its release in mid November 2006.
