Webaroo Add Wikipedia to Offline Surfing List
Surfing has become a basic need in this day and age, and who would of thought of surfing the net while in an offline mode. Well, start-up `Webaroo` has. The Webaroo software stores entire web sites and multimedia links which you can browse on your laptop without the need of an internet connection. It is also possible to transfer the data to your PDA or smart phone for some offline action. Webaroo lets you download web packs for any topic you are interested in but the real news here is that the popular free online encyclopedia `Wikipedia` has been reverse-engineered to work offline.
The Wikipedia web pack weighs in at 6GB and offers an array of entries in a fully searchable offline format. The portable pack will automatically update when the device it is stored on is connected to the Internet. The Wikipedia Web pack joins more than 200 Web content packages offered by Webaroo. Rakesh Mathur, CEO of Webaroo, said the company is proud to have made Wikipedia, which he called "one of the great bodies of reference available on the internet", portable.
