Wi-Fi is coming to a Hospital near You
Unfortunately, many of us will spend a few hours or maybe more than a few hours, in a hospital during our lifetime. And if you have already experienced time in this facility, you know better than anyone else how boring and mentally exhausting it can be to simply pass the time waiting to hear about the condition of a loved one, or to get results back from an important test you have just undergone.
What if you could pass the time while being online? It was impossible before, but today, Wi-fi is coming to a hospital near you! The Seton Family of Hospitals is now bringing free wireless Internet coverage in its patient rooms. The coverage is available at Seton?s acute-care hospitals. Access, according to Seton, adds up to 2 million square feet of wireless Internet, making it the largest provider in Austin of public Wi-fi by a private organization.
But the Seton Family is not the only private organization that offers wi-fi Internet. St. David?s HealthCare, which operates five acute-care hospitals in the Austin-area, said it has the access in many common areas of its hospitals and in all patient rooms at Round Rock Medical Center. It expects to expand its service to more patient rooms next year, according to spokeswoman Laura Balla. Now you don?t have to spend another minute being bored at the hospital. And if you?re filled with worry, there is no better way to take your mind off what is concerning you than surfing the Internet.
