Have Something to Say? Climb up on your Blog Soapbox

If you have an opinion about a subject that you?re dying to share with the world, or simply want to start an online personal diary, how about blogging? Blogging entails writing your thoughts, opinions or stories and sending it off into the big wide world of cyberspace for anybody to read. If you think that you have something to say that others will be interested to read about, we show you how to start that blog.

First off, you need to find a blogging platform. The most popular platforms out there are Typepad or Wordpress, although hundreds of potential bloggers also sign up on MySpace each day. There are, of course, other ways to blog (by video, for instance) but this requires a deeper understanding of uploading material onto the internet. With 57 million bloggers out there already (and another 15,000 joining the masses each day), you really need to think long and hard about what you are going to say on your blog. Original, humorous blogs are more popular than those that record the boring, daily routines of the average Joe.

Think of what others want to read about and possibly react to. If you have something controversial to say, don?t hesitate to put it out there and see how people respond to it. Obviously, controversial doesn?t mean anything racist or derogatory. Just because there is no moderator on the world wide web, it doesn?t mean that blogging should turn into a free-for-all where everything goes. Finally, update your blog space regularly. Readers won?t be interested in blogs that have stale news, and you want to keep the interest going.
