Small Business Sites May be Leaving the Online World
Like many mom-and-pop businesses in the US, small business websites may be in jeopardy when it comes to the online world. As big business corporations push their way through to the open market, crushing small businesses and making everything bigger, cheaper and more commercial, small businesses and mom-and-pop establishments of yesterday are quickly becoming extinct. Webmasters and web-designing fans are starting to notice this trend, and are becoming concerned.
According to blogging expert Gobala Krishnan, ?It just doesn`t make sense to be creating static HTML sites with Frontpage or Dreamweaver any more. The small business market, especially those interested with Google Adsense and selling information products, is maturing and attracting bigger corporations with the manpower and capital to churn out superior websites.? This is a real problem for small business-based webmasters and companies trying to advertise themselves on the Internet.
Krishnan claims that he believes a free blogging platform called Wordpress is the future for small business owners. Developed and released as an open-source platform, Wordpress is free and easily customizable for webmasters and small-business owners alike, using free, third-party ?plug-ins?. He also commented that using Wordpress is the best way to stay current with technologies like RSS, tagging, pinging and social book-marking. Using RSS, webmasters can put their content into a standardized format, which can be viewed and organized through RSS-aware software or automatically conveyed as new content on another website.
