U.S. Distance Learning Aid Goes Global
Russell G. Colbert, who is the Senior Vice President for Business Development at the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA), announced this past week the creation of a new "Global Affiliate Chapters" (GAC) program for USDLA. According to Mr. Colbert, the USDLA Global Affiliate Chapters are designed to fulfill the needs of distance-learning communities through international meetings, conferences and activities.
The USDLA Senior Vice President for Global Affiliate Chapters, Marci M. Powell, says "The first to affiliate was the United Kingdom with Australia, Japan and the European Distance and E-learning Network (EDEN) following closely behind. This proves the need for global networking in distance learning is strong and growing." The USDLA was formed in 1987 as a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.
"Today?s classrooms and training facilities are not complete unless they are academically connected to people and information," says Colbert, "Global Affiliate Chapters are an exceptional way of creating agile partnerships, gaining access to information, sharing interactive content, exchanging cultural experiences and collaborating more as a connected world."
