Europeans Surf The Web Instead Of Reading Newspapers

The World Wide Web has completely invaded an average person`s life. The recent study only confirms this claim. According to this study, the Web users from European countries are spending more time on the Web than they do reading newspapers and magazines. The survey was conducted by Jupiter Research and included around 5,000 Western European citizens. In addition, the wider Internet usage is also "in fashion" these days. However, as it was found, those using the Internet do not do it instead of TV and print usage, but in addition to it.

The market research firm`s director Mark Mulligan has stated: "The fact that Internet consumption has passed print consumption is an important landmark for the establishment of the Internet in the European media mix." He also added that this changing situation will surely influence the tactics taken by the content distributors and the choice of the advertising media.

The consumers that were surveyed in the study were residents of the U.K, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. The study also found that the users of broadband Internet connection spend more than three times as much time online as the users of the dial-up connection. The largest number of broadband users is in France, the country`s citizens also spend the greatest amount of time surfing the Web.
