VOIP Goes Mobile

VOIP, after being so familiar to us for a few years now, is expanding and will be available not only for "geeks", as it will be used not only with the PCs, but also mobile and wired phones, says a new company. Lynda Starr, a senior communications analyst with Frost & Sullivan said: "Voice over IP is moving from the early-adopter to the mass-market stage. We`re moving to these services that make it easier for non-geeks."

By offering free or very cheap calls, Skype and similar companies have attracted numerous clients during the past couple of years. But still, many of the regular people are slightly intimidated by the technology. However, Skype has failed going mobile, although it might be a very good idea. Now the small companies may apply this idea and to let users talk on regular landlines for free or for a very low price.

A small young company Jajah has recently revealed a new service, which lets its users to make mobile phone calls with VOIP. However, the cal does not go directly to the dialed number, but to the firm`s service, that calls back when there is a connection. Will this kind of service succeed? We would have to wait and see.
