Cell Phones For 75% Of Americans
According to the latest research held by Harris Interactive, around 75% of US adult citizens, have a cell phone service subscription. And this is more than those who have a landline service subscription. The study also found that around 25% of the cell phones users believe that their mobile device is the most important means of communication, while around 40% say the mobile phone provides them a feeling of security.
The survey was based on more 1,000 Americans, out of which 74% had cell phones, while only 58% had landlines. 1% of the surveyed had said they left the regular phone in favor of mobile one. Now, around 13% of America`s adult citizens have only mobile phones, or will use only mobile phones within the next half a year. Joe Porus, vice president and chief architect for Harris, said in a statement: "Ma Bell could become a name for Trivial Pursuit before you know it".
However, it is not that likely to happen soon. Around 37% of the surveyed said they would keep their wired phones instead of going exclusively mobile or with Internet calls, because the usual phone has some advantages: it works with the power off and it allows calling the local 911 services. There is also always a dial tone and no dropped calls.
