Vista RC2 Released By Microsoft

Last Friday the Windows Vista Release Candidate 2 (RC2) was revealed by Microsoft to technical testers. The new build, as it was promised, will very soon be available to all users. Build 5744, the last temporary release before the actual manufacturing of the product, has followed the Microsoft Release Candidate 1 (RC1), released in early September.

Users were told then that Build 5600 would be the only RC. However, as we see now, there is an additional candidate to test some other changes. Microsoft`s spokesperson said: "Since the release of Windows Vista RC1, Microsoft has continued to receive excellent feedback that is helping to improve the overall quality and performance of the product". The differences in RC2 include additional application compatibility, performance improvements, and more. Jim Allchin, the co-president of Microsoft`s platforms group, encouraged the testers to keep reporting about any bugs found in the system, as the Release To Manufacturing (RTM) is very near, according to what he said.

As a program manager Nick White said, the new code will soon be available for download by those participating in the Customer Preview Program (CPP).Microsoft plans to launch Vista for corporate customers in November, and make it available to the wide public in January 2007. Even though Microsoft seems not to be behind on schedule, the company spokesperson said that "the quality of the product will always be our first priority."
