With the amount of advertisement and the number of people using their mobile devices, Nokia`s presence is well known. Third quarter statistics now show that Nokia`s presence over the mobile market is not only a feeling you get when looking around, it`s the simple truth. Nokia currently holds about 35.1 percent of the market making the Finnish group the world`s leading provider of mobile telephones.

Although the company holds the largest part of the mobile market, it seems that Nokia is losing a bit of their share. During the same period of 2005, the group was holding 32.5 percent of the general mobile using public. The statistics were published by the Gartner institute after conducting a thorough study. The company with the second largest control over the mobile market is the U.S.-based Motorola. The company holds 20.6 percent of the market, an increase over its 18.7 percent of last year.

The third company is the South Korean Samsung with about 12.2 percent of the market using its products. The study also shows that more people are using mobile devices, and that the number of soled mobile phones rose 21.5 percent to 251 million units. Looking at the numbers, Gartner institute`s analysts predict that 986 million units will be sold when until the end of the year. The biggest increase in sales was in the Asia-Pacific market, where a 54.7 percent rise was listed. Japan on the other hand reports a 4.7 percent drop in total sale numbers during the third quarter.
