PS3 Fanatics Will Not Find Comfort at eBay
Fans of Sony`s PlayStation won`t be happy to learn that the internet is not going to help them with their quest after the new PlayStation 3. Sony`s highly anticipated console will hit stores during the week, but it is already known that demand will not be answered. Sony is having some difficulties with certain peripherals elements of the gaming console, and will only have a limited stock for the release. Many people though that eBay might a good alternative for them, but the site announced that it will receive a limited amount of consoles as well.
Only users that racked up comments from at least 40 past customers and have a positive rating between 98 and 100 will be liable to list for a PlayStation 3. Not only that, but each vendor can list one PS3 unit per eBay account. This means that only a very small segment of eBay users will be able to purchase the gaming console through the site, and those of us that do not meet the above demands, should start looking for an alternative. People realized that the units will probably run out soon, and some people already bit for $2,300 for one PS3. Just to make it clear, the retail price for the console is $500.
Sony is shipping 400,000 units for its United States launch, about 3,200 are available through eBay. Nintendo is also releasing their new gaming console and eBay will offer about 2,000 units of the new Wii. eBay wants to avoid situations where people offer PS3s for sale, but eventually fail to supply as a result of limited unit distribution.
