eBay Targeted by Bomber

Popular internet auction site, eBay was targeted by a bomb on the company?s campus in San Jose last week. A bomb went off at about 7.30 pm outside a room used by eBay and PayPal employees when they break for lunch. Officials say that nobody was injured in the blast and there was minimal damage to office windows, however the bomb has authorities worried about who the bomber could be and the motives behind the crime.

Eyewitnesses say that the blast was heard loudly in the immediate vicinity of the eBay headquarters Paypal department, situated in San Jose, California. The campus was evacuated and police combed the area for possible clues left by the unknown suspect. Workers have since been allowed back to work, after authorities failed to find any kind of explosive device or material. No suspects have been arrested in relation to the blast and, to date, police have no leads in the incident.

Police officials ruled out that the blast caused by any type of malfunction. A San Jose police sergeant was quoted as saying that ?this is definitely not an accident.? He added that this was an isolated incident and that everything seemed to be under control. On eBay and Paypal message boards, posters were speculating who ?had it in? for the companies and users generally reacted with a mixture of shock, disbelief and cynicism.
