NBC Turns to YouTube for Promotional Help
Next time you go online and visit YouTube for some new video content do not be surprised if you see NBC`s fall promos. That`s right, TV giant NBC have decided to use the online video sharing community to distribute promos for its fall season. This new strategic partnership further underscores the internet`s growing role in generating buzz around traditional media shows.
YouTube is one of the most popular sites in the world today and everyone is talking about the latest YouTube video. NBC has realized the advertising potential of the site and decided to use it as their key distribution platform. The deal includes clips from new shows or old ones such as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," behind-the-scenes interviews and other features largely exclusive to the Internet. NBC also is sponsoring a contest for fans of "The Office" to create their own promotional videos.
John Miller, chief marketing officer for the NBC Universal Television Group had this to say, "The distinction between television and video is becoming murkier and murkier. Rather than putting our heads in the sand and saying this doesn`t exist, we`re trying to jump in and embrace it."
